เมื่อวานเป็นพุธที่สองที่ไปเรียน Practical Business English for Everyday Life...ก้อคงต้องจดบันทึกตามระเบียบ :

play dumb : play stupid or pretend stupid....เหมือนเวลาคนอื่นพูดเรื่องที่เราอาจรู้ แต่เราแกล้งไม่รู้..ซึ่งก้อเป็นเทคนิคในการทำธุรกิจอย่างหนึ่ง

overhead : fix cost or cost to do business

cutthroat : kill ฆ่าหรือกำจัดคู่แข่งทางธุรกิจ

ironclad contract : contract that you can't break it , very strong contract

niche market : special group market

high interest quickee loans : เงินกู้ที่เราสามารถกู้ได้รวดเร็วทันใจ แต่ดอกเบี้ยสูงมาก...it's a criminal interest

jumping through hoops : many many things to go through ผ่านปัญหามากมาย ระลอกแล้วระลอกเล่า

go under : bankrupt

trade-off : ดูว่าข้อดีข้อเสียอันไหนมากกว่า

de-listed : get out of the list

think on your feet : when the problems come suddenly and you have to think how to solve it น่าจะหมายถึงแก้ปัญหาเฉพาะหน้า...

find the way or make one ( find the way or make a way!) : don't give up!

fly by the seat of your pants : คล้ายลองผิดลองถูก..เช่น เราเริ่มทำธุรกิจครั้งแรก เราไม่มีความรู้เรื่องธุรกิจนั้นๆ แต่เราเรียนรู้จากการทำงาน..และลองผิดลองถูกเอง..

mom and pop store/ shop : family business

nice guys finish last : แบบเหมือนอย่าเป็นคนดีเกินในการทำธุรกิจ ไม่งั้นก้อจะเหมือนเราจะเป็นคนสุดท้ายที่ประสบความสำเร็จ..คือเตือนว่าอย่าดีเกินเวลาทำธุรกิจ...not be too nice guys

red tape : more and more regulations ( too many regulations )

dog eat dog : ธุรกิจเดียวกัน ฆ่ากันเอง..

entrepreneurial spirit : driving force, creating and building things

If you swim with the sharks , you'll get eaten : ระวังในการทำธุรกิจ ต้องเลือกคนที่จะทำด้วย..ไม่งั้น เราอาจถูกกลืนได้..

risk assessment : ดูความเสี่ยงของธุรกิจหากเราจะทำต่อไป หรืออาจใช้ในแง่..เช่น เราเดินขึ้นเขากับเพื่อนๆ มีเพื่อนคนนึงป่วยมาก..เราคิดว่าเราจะเดินขึ้นเขาต่อ หรือลงเขาเพื่อพาเค้าไปรักษา แบบนี้ก้อใช้ได้

damage control : stop losing money ในกรณีตัวอย่างปีนเขา ก้อใช้ได้อีก เหมือนเราคิดว่าหยุดอันตรายหรือความเสียหายที่จะเกิดกับเพื่อน...

know when to hold them and when to fold them : know how your situation is...เหมือนรู้เรา รู้เขา รู้ว่าเมื่อไรควรจะล่นต่อหรือไม่เล่นไพ่ต่อ...

แล้วก้อมีข้อข้องใจ เวลาดูหนังเห็นฝรั่งชอบพูดคำว่า " you bet " เลยถาม Ian มันแปลว่าอะไร Ian บอก เป็น idiom หรือแสลงของไอ้กัน...แปลว่า yes, drfinitely!!

ครั้งนี้ก้อได้เรียนคำใหม่ๆไม่น้อยเลย..
